Undergraduate: Academic Support: Advising
New Admits
All new admits will be advised at a mandatory orientation
session. Students will receive documentation regarding
signing up for the orientation program once admitted to
the university. On the day of orientation students will
meet with representatives from CECS Academic Affairs and
the individual engineering and computer science departments.
Advisors will assist students in creating schedules for
the incoming term.
Those students transferring credit into UCF are encouraged
to bring copies (unofficial will work) of transcripts.
University databases may not be complete at the time students
attend orientation so transcripts will assist in the advisement
and registration process.
Florida public community college and state university
transfers are encouraged to speak with an advisor in the
CECS Academic Affairs Office early in their community college
career. Early advisement ensures students are taking the
appropriate prerequisites at the community college prior
to transfer.
Engineering Pending/Undeclared
CECS Academic Affairs exists to provide services to students
entering the college. Among those services is advisement
for undergraduate engineering pending and undeclared students.
If you are still researching the majors, we encourage you
to review all available resources. Here are just a few:

Engineering pending and undeclared students are placed
on hold by the CECS Academic Affairs Office. The hold is
used 1) to encourage students to speak with an advisor,
2) to keep students on-track with engineering prerequisite
work, and 3) to aid the student in choosing a major.
Pending/undeclared students are encouraged to choose a
major by the end of their second or third semester. At
this point in the academic plan, programs begin to differentiate
their coursework and more critical decisions regarding
the major are required.
