Undergraduate: Academic Support: Probation
Students attending UCF are expected to perform at a certain level academically. Undergraduate students that do not maintain satisfactory academic standing at UCF are placed on a probationary status. Satisfactory academic standing at UCF is defined as a minimum cumulative UCF GPA of a 2.0. When a student's cumulative UCF GPA (not term GPA) falls below a 2.0 he or she will be placed on academic probation.
If a student goes on academic probation there are several things they need to be aware of. First when on probation, if a students earns a term GPA below a 2.0 they will be disqualified, academically dismissed from UCF. A student that is disqualified must sit out of UCF for a minimum of two semesters before that can be eligible for readmission, and even then there is no guarantee a student will be readmitted. For more information regarding disqualification, readmission and policies and procedures please see the undergraduate catalog. In order to assist students in avoiding being disqualified, the college places probation students on hold. This hold requires students on probation to meet with their departmental advisor before registering for courses. The college has developed a Course Approval Form to complete and signed by a departmental advisor it should be turned in to the Academic Affairs Office (AAO) in ENGR 107. Once the form is received, AAO staff will remove the hold temporarily allowing the student to register. This hold will be permanently removed once the student is no longer on probation. Please note this process may vary for students that have been readmitted and are still on probation.
A student is removed from probation, and considered in good standing, once their UCF cumulative GPA is a 2.0 or higher. Once this occurs the college will remove the mandatory advisement hold, but students are encouraged to continue seeking advisement each semester.
If there are questions regarding probationary status, holds, academic standing, or advisement please contact your department office or the Academic Affairs Office (AAO).
