College of Engineering and Computer Science - Undergraduate Programs

Undergraduate: Academic Support: Readmission

Students seeking readmission due to academic disqualification or exclusion from the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at UCF should read over the following information and take the steps indicated. Students that are seeking readmission for non academic reasons should consult the Registrar's website at http://registrar.ucf.edu/.

Students that have been disqualified are required to sit out for two semesters before reapplying to UCF. During this time students are encouraged to continue taking courses at another institution if they feel that they can be successful. This will provide an opportunity to show academic progress that can be considered when making a decision regarding readmission. Those students that have yet to earn an Associates of Arts degree from a Florida Public Community College are recommended to do so before applying for readmission to UCF. This is due to the fact that in some cases completion of an AA degree after being disqualified and sitting out two semesters will result in a much easier readmission process. As in all cases when students take courses at another institution, students seeking readmission should consult their advisor in order to ensure the courses they are taking will be accepted if readmission is granted.

Students that have been excluded or are disqualified and down 15 quality points or more are no longer eligible for readmission to UCF. Under these circumstances students may appeal if there were extenuating circumstances beyond their control that affected their academic performance. This information as well as other important information regarding readmission can be found in the current undergraduate catalog. To find out how many qualitypoint(s) down they are, students can contact the Registrar's office.

Students that are interested in applying for readmission and have sat out the appropriate amount of time should follow the following steps to apply for readmission.
  1. Consult the current undergraduate catalog to find information regarding readmission policies and procedures. The catalog can be found online at http://www.ucf.edu/catalog/. Complete the readmission application form and turn it in to the Registrar's office in Millican Hall room 161. For more information regarding readmission as well as the readmission application visit the Registrar's office on the web at http://registrar.ucf.edu/. At this point the Registrar staff will inform you if a college recommendation is needed. If a college recommendation is not needed in your case then the decision will be handled by the Registrar's office or the Admissions and Standards Committee and the college will not be involved.
  2. In the case that the Registrar indicates that a college recommendation is needed the college of Engineering and Computer Science requires that students fill out the CECS Readmission Form. Students should fill out the information at the top of the form and read over all the requirements. Students will then need to speak with their faculty advisor in the department of their major. Along with the advisor the student will complete the bottom portion of the form indicating the schedule plan for the student upon readmission. Once completed both the advisor and the student will sign the form.
  3. The completed college readmission form along with the additional required information (student's letter, SASS audit, transfer work, etc.) should be turned in to the Academic Affairs Office in engineering building one room 107.
Please note the following important statements regarding readmission to the College of Engineering and Computer Science:
  • Readmission is a privilege and is not guaranteed in any case where a student was suspended due to academic difficulty. CECS will not support readmission cases of students that were disqualified from a different college. Students readmitted to the CECS will often have restrictions placed on the courses for which they can register. CECS does not support immediate readmissions and very rarely supports early readmissions.
  • Filling out the CECS readmission form and having it signed by a departmental advisor does not indicate college support. It is only part of the process that will result in the college recommendation to the Registrar.
